QGIS 2.2 "Valmiera"

As previously announced, QGIS has moved to a fixed 4-month release cycle. And now the first release on the new schedule has taken place.
This release focuses on bug fixes and performance improvements. Much effort has been put into developing and improving the Print Composer, making it even easier to create printed maps.

- support for pasting WKT from the clipboard as a new feature in the existing vector layer or as a new memory layer
- UI improvements in the expression builder widget. It is now possible to resize various areas, advanced users can hide operator buttons to free up some screen space
- support for gradient fills (more details here)
- support for category labels for paletted rasters
- ability to invert the colour ramp when creating it
- on-the-fly feature simplification (generalisation) to speed up the rendering of complex features at small scales
- inner stroke support for polygons (see “Drawing polygon borders only inside the polygon” section here)
- support for one-to-many (1:n) relations
- ability to export project to DXF (Drawing eXchange Format)
- rotation support for all composert items
- improved rulers and guides
- preview of individual atlas pages
- improved layout element selection: multiple selection with the mouse, “subtract from selection”, “add to selection”, “within” selection mode
