I have released a first experimental version of the CSWClient plugin for QGIS.
The plugin interacts with the OGC CSW (Catalogue Service for Web) servers and is used to search and view spatial data and related resources.
Among the main features of the plugin:
- manage server connections (add a new connection, edit or delete an existing connection)
- save and load server connections to/from the exchange file
- view detailed information about the CSW server currently in use
- search for datasets by keyword or list of keywords
- define the area of interest (either by typing extent or by drawing it on the canvas)
- set the number of records that will be shown at once
- navigate search results (first, last, next, previous record)
- open links from the
downloadableData
records in the browser. - add services from the
liveData
records to the list of WMS services (if this is a valid link to a WMS service)
CSWClient is available from the QGIS plugins repository.
The plugin was developed for Linfinity Consulting for the TanBIF (Tanzania Biodiversity Information Facility) project.
